NiRA Announces Price Increase for .ng and .com.ng Domain Registrations Effective February 1, 2025
The Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA) has announced an updated pricing structure for “.ng” and “.com.ng” domain registrations, set to take effect on February 1, 2025. This adjustment is aimed at covering the costs associated with maintaining and enhancing the DotNG registry infrastructure, as well as implementing necessary security measures.
New Pricing Details:
.ng Domains: NGN 15,600
.com.ng Domains: NGN 7,200
NiRA has communicated that these changes are essential to ensure the continued reliability and security of Nigeria’s domain name system. The organization has been proactive in promoting the adoption of the .ng domain, which has seen significant growth in recent years. As of November 2024, the total number of .ng domain registrations reached 231,853, up from 211,164 in November 2023, indicating a steady increase in adoption.
In March 2022, NiRA implemented a 40% price reduction for .ng domain registrations to make them more accessible to businesses and individuals. This initiative contributed to the growth of .ng domain registrations, which surpassed 225,000 by May 2024.
The upcoming price adjustment reflects NiRA’s commitment to maintaining a robust and secure domain infrastructure, ensuring that it meets international standards and supports the digital economy in Nigeria.
