Ademola Lookman Shines as Atalanta Secure a Dominant Champions League Victory Over Shakhtar Donetsk
It was a night of accolades for Nigerian international Ademola Lookman, who played a pivotal role in Atalanta’s 3-0 triumph over Shakhtar Donetsk in their UEFA Champions League clash. The match, held at the Veltins-Arena in Germany, saw Lookman contribute both a goal and an assist in a commanding performance.
Lookman’s influence was felt early on when, in the 21st minute, he delivered a well-placed cross after a quick free kick, finding Berat Djimsiti, who blasted the ball into the back of the net to give Atalanta the lead.
Just before halftime, Lookman doubled the advantage with a clinical finish, slotting home after former Arsenal player Sead Kolasinac cut the ball back into the Shakhtar box, making it 2-0 by the 44th minute.
Atalanta sealed the win early in the second half, with Raoul Bellanova heading in a pinpoint cross from Davide Zappacosta, leaving the Shakhtar defense scrambling. The victory marked Atalanta’s first Champions League win of the season, following their goalless draw against Arsenal in Bergamo.
Shakhtar Donetsk, on the other hand, will look to bounce back as they head to the Emirates for their next fixture on October 22.
